Chocolate Nut Cookies

We all know that I love garage sale bargains.  One of the best finds so far was an estate sale.  When I walked into the house, it was clear that NOTHING had ever been thrown out and EVERYTHING was laced with love.

I am just so happy and have chills every time I look at this recipe book. It belongs to a lady named Mimi, but all of the aprons in the house for sale, which I could tell where homemade had "Nana" on them.
All throughout the book Mimi (aka Nana) does menu planning and carefully writes out each item, down to the ice tea and sliced tomatoes.

When I got to the letter C section - “Cakes, Casseroles and Cookies”, I thought I had died and gone to a bakery heaven.

I love family and the idea of Mimi/Nana taking the time to write out all of her recipes (like the “olden” days) was just so lovely.

And the idea of making what she cared about so much and put so much thought into…wow, very cool.

I love the title – “Easy Brownies or Chocolate Nut Cookies.   A multitasking recipe is awesome.

They were very tasty and very rich and chocolaty and I will continue to make them and I will pass on the recipe book to my family.

I will continue to make her recipes and keep her tradition going.

Happy Halloween!

Deen Team Blogger

I love to bake, I love to write, I love to share my fun, I love to take photos and love the ideas that come from other people when they comment on my blog.

I totally have what it takes to become one of Paula Deen’s favorite bloggers.

I’m not afraid to show my mistakes, nor am I afraid to show off what I love.   I easily giggle at my baking errors and am giddy when something turns out even better than I expected

My husband is my number one taste tester and my blog proofreader.  He's awesome on both accounts!  Sometimes he wants me to blog, which he knows that means I have to bake something new.   Sneaky, right?

I'd love to be part of Paula's Team.  She's an inspiration and I ♥ her.

Chocolate Crackled Cookies and Andes Mint Chocolate Cookies

It's almost time for the cookie frenzy that is the holiday season at our house, so I'm starting early.  Because I can.  My goal is to use a new recipe every time so I can have more than Chocolate Raspberry Peanut Butter Cup Cookies and Snickerdoodles.  Not that that is a bad thing, but variety is nice or so I'm told.

First up, Chocolate Crackled Cookies.  I love that the secret ingredient to these is Ancho Chili Pepper.  Seriously.  It is and it adds a touch of ZING!  It's fun watching peoples reactions when I tell them.

Next, one of my favorite combinations....chocolate and mint.  Andes Creme de Menthe Cookies.  Reminds me of Baskin Robbins's Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream from my sisters childhood birthday cakes.  I will make these often and add lots of the tiny minty treats.  So happy! Stayed tuned for more!

Honey Nut Wheat Bread

I am slowly but surely becoming an addict...to my bread machine.  My re-entry into the bread machine world was my Chocolate Walnut French Toast, and off I go....I even found at a garage sale the Ultimate Bread Machine Cookbook.  Fate?  I think yes.

Again, I felt the need to cook something sweet, so I started with Honey Nut Wheat Bread...but I had to add to it....so I added a mixture of cinnamon and sugar.

Look how pretty.  If nothing else, it came out gorgeous.  So perfectly browned and shaped.  Now to the insides.

Festive, right?  Multi-colored and awesome texture. And, instead of French Toast, I just made plain and simple toast. I love toast.

I admit, I burned it a little, but that's not the first time, and certainly nothing that a little butter couldn't fix.  I loved it and I especially loved the touch of cinnamon in it.  Yep, I'll be earmarking this recipe and will make it a keeper.
